Squirrel!

An affectionate or at least a friendly squirrel, not something you hear about often. I consider myself lucky to have met one. My boyfriend's mother came home one day to find a little baby squirrel alone in their driveway. She called a squirrel expert (yes there are such people) and she thinks the poor little guy must have fallen from a tree or got lost from his mother, who might not even be alive. So, of course you've got to take the little guy in! He stayed at their house for a while and they fed him, got him a cage and gave him lots of love. Not many people know but squirrels are super cuddly, when he was a baby he would get as close to you as he possibly could. He went into my sweatshirt and went to sleep, he was so little that he fit in my hand, he fell asleep in there too!

They named him Chester. They kept him in their house for a while but after a while opened a window so he was able to go outside when he wanted to. And he did, and he would come back into the house. Then he started to stay outside for longer, eventually he stopped coming back in the house. But he's still around...

He's all grown up now! He stays in their backyard. My boyfriend's father whistles for him and he comes running down the tree and over to him, he feeds him nuts and gives him water. I finally got to experience it for myself, and it was amazing! He climbed down the tree and was jumping on me and Rob.

So, if you ever get the chance to take a squirrel in I'd say do it! But just prepare yourself for a crazy little guy (or gal)! And do research, give a call to an expert, because you can't fed them just anything. Little Chester is doing fine, we hope he's making friends and some day we hope he finds a nice little miss squirrel and settles down to have a family.

Apple Picking

Last week I went up to Warwick, N.Y. with my boyfriend to do one of my favorite fall activities, apple picking! It was his first time, he's deprived obviously, and seeing how much he was enjoying it made it all the better. I couldn't wait to get them home and look up recipes to make delicious treats with them. I made Apple Banana Muffins and Apple Crisp. Since I recently decided to make this blog, I didn't take pictures of them. But I did take pictures of us during apple picking. Soooo, here are a few of them... :)

Isn't he beautiful?

That's me!

My silly man. He practically ate a trees worth of apples that day.
